Neo-confusionism is is a moral, ethical, and metaphysical Chinese philosophy that was influenced by Confucianism, and originated with Han Yu and Li Ao in the Tang Dynasty.
Buddhism had a very large and lasting influence on Chinese culture. Neo-Confucionist people used Buddhism to help rebuild Confucian ethics. This painting reflects Neo-confucionism because the paintings of the large landscapes are an interpretation of Chinese philosophy.
